Prepare to join the next generation of science writers through nine courses led by practicing writers and editors. Their guidance will help you learn emerging writing techniques through the prism of relevant science topics.

The program includes two core courses: Techniques of Science-Medical Writing and Contemporary Science-Medical Writing: Creative and Professional Forms.

Receive expert guidance to improve as a writer and participate in collaborative peer reviews. You will select two workshop courses that span topics such as science in medicine, tech stories, science narratives, personal essays, and more.

Select two electives that fit your career ambitions. They delve into an array of science writing topics, including nature, climate change, technology, and advanced reporting.

Join faculty and peers in an inspiring setting for an immersive writing experience. The location and course topics change each year. Examples of topics include science policy, medicine in action, writing in the field, and marine science.

Customize your education to include an internship, independent study, or an additional workshop, elective, or residency. With special permission, you may take a course from another AAP program, such as the Environmental Sciences and Policy, Communication, Biotechnology, or Government programs.
